Dear Sophomores,

October 13, 2010

Tonight for homework, please answer the following questions:

Discuss how you think you did today in the debate. Is there anything you wish you had a chance to say, but were not able to? How do you think your team worked together? Is there anyone who mentioned an idea or thought that impressed you in the debate today? Is there anything I should take into account in your evaluation?

You may paste the above prompt into a Word document and type out your response in there so it’s easier for me to read. Print it and bring it to class tomorrow.

Dear Freshmen,

October 12, 2010

I am posting a rubric for the Speak paper. I remembered to tell one class (per. 8, I believe) about this rubric today, and you guys should definitely print it out and staple it to your final and first draft. It comes at the end, just like before.

If you happen to be in period 2 or period 5 and see this in time, feel free to print the rubric out and staple it to your paper as well. Because I forgot to inform you of it, I will do it if you don’t see this in time. No big deal.

Rubric is below.

Happy stapling,

Miss Heiden

Here’s the rubric: EssayRubric(2)

10 300 CAPT Question for Hmwk due Wed., Oct. 6

October 5, 2010

Guys, sorry about the late post. Thankfully you drop tomorrow so you have another night to do this.

Here is the question I’d like you to write about with “To Build a Fire” in mind:

What does this story say about people in general? In what ways does it remind you of people you have known or experiences you have had? You may also write about stories you have read or movies, works of art, or television shows you have seen. Use examples from the stories to explain your thinking.
