9 300 Odyssey Paper Update

December 22, 2009

I have created a fold on turnitin.com for all my 9 300 classes.  If you have worked with me already, please revise your work, turn it in online, and bring me a print-out tomorrow.

If you have not yet worked with me, please make an effort to come see me before school tomorrow, during period 1, 6, or 8, or after school, and I will be more than happy to sit down with you.  If you absolutely cannot find the time to sit down with me you may drop off your draft on my desk and I will comment on it.

After you work with me, revise your paper and submit it to turnitin.com by midnight on Wednesday.

Please e-mail me if you have extenuating circumstances and we will work it out.

10 300 Hmwk Week of 12/14-12/18

December 16, 2009

1) The price of the field trip is $30.00.  Please have your parents make checks out to Darien High School.

2) There will be a vocab quiz on Friday, 12/18, on the first 30 words from the Othello vocab packet.

3) After we take the quiz Friday, we will meet in Book Clubs.  You need to be working on doing the reading your group has agreed upon and preparing the notes for that.

9 300 Hmwk Week of 12/14

December 16, 2009

Monday – none

Tuesday – Type up intro and body par. # 1. using the journal entry / thesis statement you wrote on what a reader can learn from The Odyssey.

Wednesday night – add whatever you need to your draft to hit two complete typed (double-spaced) pages by tomorrow.  These should have 1-inch margins on all sides, use 12-point Times New Roman font, and follow the format you see on the sample paper I gave you.

Print this two-paged draft and bring it to class Thursday.

9 300 Hmwk Over the Weekend

December 11, 2009

1. Study for the vocab quiz Monday on words 1-50.

2. Read Ch. 23 of The Odyssey & do post-its.  Then read the summary of Ch. 24.

3. Download the below document, print it out, read it over, and do step 1.  I have typed the first step out here in case you can’t open the document:  write a one-page journal-type response answering the question “What can the reader learn from Odysseus’ story in The Odyssey?” and then condense your answer into a single, complete sentence starting with “A reader can learn…”
